The Center of Your Home

“Home is what you make it. Doesn’t matter how much home you have, it is how you design your life in the process!”

-Emmy

So where do you begin? For me, I like to believe making things beautiful is what creates your home. Obviously, we all want a beautiful home. This doesn’t mean go buy the most expensive things money can buy, this is finding ways to curate your home into you. It doesn’t have to be all at once either. The biggest component to me, in my home, is organization. A successful individual once told me, a clean and organized home will lead to more mental tranquility, less stress, and overall happiness. To kick things off, I am starting with the core of our homes… The Kitchen!

For most, the kitchen is what start and ends our day. You grab a cup of coffee or tea or whatever is your morning routine, and then end with dinner and perhaps dessert. Finding the tools to create an easy flow is important. In no particular order, my favorite organizational tools that have changed my home for the better!

MY Favorite Kitchen Organization Amazon Finds:

  1. Bamboo Adjustable Drawer Organizer This is a fantastic and elegant way to organize your drawers. I have multiple of these in my home, both in my kitchen. One is for my silverware and the other is near my stove for my large kitchen utensils. My favorite part is the adjustable sides so that the organizer can fit any drawer.
  2. Clear Acrylic Drawer Containers I can’t say enough good things about these drawer organizers. I have used the acrylic drawer organizers in so many places. You can use these for desk drawers, bathroom drawers, and even kitchen drawers. Trust me, this is a must!
  3. Refrigerator Organizing Bins. Finding bins that make sense can be hard. I get it we all have different space sizes and it can make it difficult to choose from all the variations available. Here is what I have used as a staple to start with. It’s affordable and gives you what I believe are the core bins for starting out with organizing your fridge. Later I will detail more options.
  4. The Bamboo Ziplock Organizer This is one of my favorite organizing tools. While it keeps the ziplocks nice and tidy, it also adds an elegant touch and no one is judging you on what ziplock brand or knockoff you have in these. Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t like buying the most expensive brand when it comes to this kind of product. Grocery store prices are on the rise and I am happy to buy the generic brand of ziplock. Don’t fault me if you don’t.
  5. Lazy Susan Turntable Storage When I hear this product name: Lazy-Susan, all I think about is my parents growing up. “Honey, can you grab that from the lazy susan?” Makes me giggle. Wow! It is true what they say about becoming your parents. I love these turntables. I bought the 2-pack set. Both I use in my kitchen for my daily use of spices and all my bottles of non-refrigerated condiments. It has made searching for my essential kitchen go-to’s so easy.
  6. Bamboo Drawer Dividers In the world of drawer organizing, there are plenty of options. Just walking into the container store you can get overwhelmed. I have to mention this, as I have a love/hate relationship with this store. I will say drawers are not that complicated. If you use the tools like a drawer divider, you can achieve the goal of organizing. The bamboo drawer dividers are wonderful as they can offer easy and quick drawer organization. Use them in multiple places. I have them in use in my kitchen but can be used for bedroom/closet drawers.
  7. Pantry Storage Bins I don’t know about you but when you open the pantry and say the words “there is no food in here “but in reality you probably have food, chances are you haven’t organized your pantry well enough. We all fall into this. Believe me, I still do. I will say having clear bins in my pantry has made it easier to see what I have on hand and what I don’t. Especially for my growing child who is always raiding the pantry. I know when to restock.

The Final Note

It can be scary starting to organize your life if you don’t know where to begin. My advice, start with one drawer at a time. The crazy thing is I grew up in an unorganized home. My parents juggled their businesses and housework was not a priority. I could see the toll it took on them. I started to clean my room and then my brother’s room and eventually, it became my lifestyle. I had a drive to organize because I didn’t want to continue the patterns I once lived. It takes courage to change. Today, I am here to share my wisdom, for what it’s worth, and hope it will inspire you to take action. In my next post, I will provide useful tools I used to organize my closet. With spring upon us, it’s a perfect time to swap out seasonal clothes and simplify an area we utilize most.
